    How to resize an image for an X header

    1. Add your image. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo or design from your device.
    2. Set the framing. Crop to fill makes a full-width banner. Pick a focus position to keep the most important part of the source, or use Fit when the whole design must remain visible.
    3. Check the safe-area guide. Move important text and faces away from the shaded top, bottom and profile-photo areas in your original design if necessary.
    4. Download the result. FileWren exports an exact 1500×500 JPG or PNG ready for your X profile.

    Why X headers need more than a simple resize

    The recommended X header is extremely wide: three times wider than it is tall. A normal camera photo is nowhere near that shape, so forcing it into 1500×500 would squash faces and logos. Crop to fill preserves the source proportions and trims only the overflow. The focus control lets you choose which edge to protect when the interesting part is not in the center. For a completed banner design, Fit with padding keeps every pixel and fills any empty space with your chosen color.

    Even a correctly sized header can appear slightly different across devices. X's own help page says that roughly 60 pixels at the top and bottom may be cropped on some displays. The live overlay marks that center-safe band and the approximate profile-photo overlap, so you can check the composition before uploading. These guides never become part of the exported file.

    What size should an X or Twitter header be?

    X recommends 1500×500 pixels, which is a 3:1 aspect ratio. This tool always exports that exact size in JPG or PNG format.

    Why can the top and bottom of my header look cropped?

    X notes that different screens and browsers may crop about 60 pixels from the top and bottom. Keep important text and faces inside the center guide. The guide is only a preview and is never included in your download.

    Should I use Crop to fill or Fit with padding?

    Crop to fill gives you an edge-to-edge banner and is best for photos. Fit with padding keeps the entire source visible, which is useful for logos, finished artwork or designs that must not be trimmed.

    Does FileWren upload or store my header image?

    No. The browser decodes, crops and exports your image locally with the Canvas API. The file never leaves your device, and FileWren cannot see it.
